It has been a year since I started joining YouTube—significantly investing time on putting out weekly content on social media, new technology, and leadership. In the past, I thought it was just a platform where people go to consume videos, but I realized there’s more to YouTube than that! Here are my key takeaways that might help you as you think about investing on the platform.
I can’t believe this day is finally here! I can’t believe the words I’m about to type! I can’t be more proud to say:
MY SISTER IS A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!!!!!!!
To say that my sister, Becky, and I are close might be the understatement of the year. It’s hard to begin to describe the depth of our sibling relationship. The reality of the depth comes from the valleys that we’ve been through together. We endured broken relationships, painful losses, school challenges, and constant change. We navigated some hilarious phases like Jinco jeans (her) and Nike earrings (me). We journeyed through her countless surgeries that seemed to never end and both helped each other move more times than we could count. We even got arrested together (another story for another time)!
We had some great times along the way as well! Coolio, Montell Jordan and Garth Brooks on full blast in my high school 85 Blazer. Graduating college (eventually) and finding spouses...
I’m a firm believer that 360-degree videos created for VR are going to be a big part of the future of social media. About 18 months ago, I bought an Insta360 camera that gave me an opportunity to create 360-degree photos and videos. At the current price of under $100, the product does offer a lot, but there are still areas to improve on. In this vlog I share my 2 cents on this product as a whole.
I love LinkedIn and how it allows me to constantly build connections with people from a professional standpoint. In the past few months, I’ve noticed that videos have more engagement than other content. LinkedIn videos are truly worth experimenting with. Here’s what I’ve learned so far about them that might be helpful for you as you put out your own content on LinkedIn.
If you have been following me on my vlog, I’ve been posting a lot of content about the Oculus Go since I got it five months ago. While I’ve been celebrating it quite a bit, I want to share the good with the bad. Unfortunately, it broke. As I continue to explore this device, here’s my honest feedback.
I’ve been consumed by YouTube over the past nine months! Though YouTubers have varying strategies, there are things that are common among those who are successful. Here are 7 things I think every successful YouTube channel has and what you might want to pay attention to as well.
I’m a firm believer that Virtual Reality is a BIG part of our future and because of that 360 video is a big part of our future. It's unique and comes with a new set of challenges that we have never had to think about in the past. In this episode of the vlog I share 4 tips when capturing 360 video content. I also shoot this video in 360 using the Insta360 camera connected to an iPhone X.
I love LinkedIn as a social network and the opportunities professionally that come with it. While it is easily accessible for free, I decided few months ago to try Premium, which gives an option of either LinkedIn Career, Business or Recruiter, costing at least 20 dollars a month. Was it worth investing in? I still say it depends on what your primary objective is on the platform. Here are my thoughts and more about LinkedIn Premium!
I’m excited to see where the standalone Oculus Go is now and especially excited about what’s ahead for the technology. While new apps are being created for it everyday, there are still apps found in our mobile devices that will further the virtual reality experience if only they were on the Oculus Go. Hopefully, software developers will take advantage of this opportunity and bring them to the device soon! In this episode, I share with you 7 apps that I believe are missing, but needed on the Oculus Go device.
